Some fragrances begin in a laboratory.
This one began somewhere above the clouds.

On a domestic flight, Tom Zallow caught the passing trace of a fragrance worn by a flight attendant moving quietly down the aisle. He never asked what she was wearing. Maybe he was too shy. Maybe the moment passed too quickly.

Instead, he simply breathed it in and thought:

If I can’t ask her what this is, I have to recreate it.

It wasn’t the kind of floral fragrance he was used to.

There was rose, but not a rose in bloom.

This rose felt darker. Older. As though its petals had begun to curl at the edges and fall against the floor of a quiet forest. Beneath the floral softness were woods, earth, and something almost shadowed—a rose growing among trees rather than beneath the sun.

It was delicate without being fragile.
Floral without being sweet.
Masculine without losing its beauty.

The kind of fragrance that could rest just as naturally against the collar of a man’s coat as it could against a woman’s skin.

So Tom returned to the idea again and again, blending, adjusting, remembering that brief trail of scent left behind thousands of feet in the air.

Until eventually, memory became formula.
