Some fragrances smell like the ocean in summer.

Jawz smells like the ocean after everyone has gone home.

The boardwalk is empty.
The sky turns grey earlier now.
Cold wind pushes salt through the streets where tourists stood only weeks before.

It opens with a deep maraschino cherry accord, bright at first, but darker than something meant for warm weather. Frozen cherry-lime cuts through sharp sea air, while salt clings to the sweetness like frost beginning to form along the shore.

Then the tide begins to change.

Cold aquatics, wet sand, sea kelp, and weathered driftwood pull the fragrance farther from land. The cherry deepens into something almost wine-like—rich, dark, and strangely metallic against the water.

Like red spilling into a black autumn sea.

The base sinks even deeper.

Dark ambergris brings an animalic oceanic weight, while a sharp metallic accord flashes beneath it like steel against cold water. Dry cedarwood lingers in the background, recalling an old boat dock, damp wood, and leaves gathering along an abandoned shoreline.

Jawz is the beach after the season ends.

No crowds.
